Nine Orchard Hotel Review: Stylish Stays

View from room at Nine Orchard, Lower East Side, New York, NY

Tucked between the Lower East Side and Chinatown, Nine Orchard is a design lover’s dream. Housed in a restored 1912 bank building, the hotel manages to feel both historic and completely current. It’s warm, quiet, and undeniably chic. The kind of place where the lighting is perfect, the playlist never overwhelms the moment, and the details are so considered you begin mentally redesigning your own home within five minutes of checking in.

The rooms are minimalist in theory but never cold. The color palette is soft and sophisticated, the furniture is sculptural but inviting, and the bedding is the kind that makes you cancel your alarm. Ours came with a beautiful view, natural light, and a welcome that felt personal without being performative. Music was playing. Champagne was chilled.

We chose Nine Orchard for a specific purpose: a belated birthday celebration that needed to feel like a true escape, not just a night away.

Dinner was just a few minutes away at Blue Ribbon Izakaya, which hit the perfect note. We could have gone trendier, but the sushi was fresh, the sake was flowing, and the conversation was easy—the kind of intentional night out that feels rare. After dinner, we headed uptown to see & Juliet, a show that exceeded every hope we had for it. We splurged on good seats, because when your nights out are rare, you make them count.

We returned to Nine Orchard and slipped into the Swan Room, the hotel’s velvet-lined bar that feels like the answer to the question, “Where should we go that’s beautiful and doesn’t make me feel like I’m shouting over a DJ?” The crowd was cool without trying, the bartenders looked like they had secret side projects, and the room glowed in that effortless, flattering way that makes everyone feel just a little more glamorous.

The breakfast room at Nine Orchard

he next morning, we returned to the Swan Room for breakfast—a space reserved exclusively for hotel guests and a perfect setting for a proper à la carte meal. As with any stay booked through a Virtuoso-affiliated advisor like Sebastian Luxe Travel, this complimentary daily breakfast was on the house. This is a crucial VIP perk that immediately elevates your experience—not a buffet, but a proper meal delivered in a room where everything feels just right.

Outside, we spotted a beautiful young influencer perched on a bench in a white linen dress. She looked like a swan. A very cold, very dedicated swan. Her boyfriend took photo after photo while she visibly tried not to shiver.

And really, that’s how you know it’s chic. When the influencers are outside freezing to get the shot, and you’re inside with cappuccino and eggs, warm and happy and already planning when to come back.
