I’ve stayed at both the Ritz-Carlton Grand Cayman and the Kimpton Seafire, and while both are technically luxury resorts, the experiences are very different. The Seafire is modern, stylish, and lively, with a great beachfront taco bar and a social atmosphere. The Ritz-Carlton, on the other hand, is seamless and indulgent, with flawless service, a legendary breakfast, and the Ambassadors of the Environment program that turns kids into mini marine biologists. Both sit on Seven Mile Beach within walking distance of excellent restaurants, but if you want the kind of vacation that feels effortless, the Ritz is in another league. Set on Oʻahu’s raw and cinematic North Shore, The Ritz-Carlton Turtle Bay is where barefoot Hawaiian beauty meets Ritz-Carlton polish. Think oceanview rooms with lanais for sunrise coffee, beachfront bungalows straight out of a film set, and a cliffside bar with the best surf break views on the island. From Lomi Lomi massages at Nalu Spa to horseback riding on coastal trails, private surf lessons, and even two waterslides that kept our son busy for hours, the resort blends serenity, space, and just the right amount of indulgence. This is not Waikīkī — and that’s the point.
