Malliouhana · Anguilla

Malliouhana resort on the bluff above Meads Bay, Anguilla, seen from the sand at the water's edge on the author, Kate Van Dell's, last stay in Anguilla in July 2026

The hotel sits on a bluff at the eastern end of Meads Bay, which is why the beach in front of it never feels like a hotel beach.

The Grand Dame, Unbuttoned

Malliouhana sits high on a bluff between Meads Bay and Turtle Cove and is one of the Caribbean's true classics. While Anguilla's other luxury resorts each have their own appeal, Malliouhana is the one that feels most unmistakably Caribbean. Celadon walls, saffron umbrellas, an open-air lobby, and panoramic sea views give it a warmth and personality that many luxury resorts spend millions trying to create.

I visited Malliouhana in July 2026 while touring Anguilla's leading luxury resorts. Of the three, this was my personal favorite for its boutique scale, exceptional dining, and authentic Caribbean atmosphere.

Why I Recommend It

Malliouhana isn't trying to be the biggest resort on the island.

It's trying to be the one you remember.

The resort strikes a rare balance between polished luxury and genuine warmth. It feels intimate without feeling small, elegant without feeling formal, and social without ever becoming crowded.

The food was my favorite of the three luxury resorts I visited, the infinity pool is one of the island's most beautiful, and the location on Meads Bay makes it especially appealing for guests who enjoy exploring Anguilla's restaurant scene.
