Jumeirah Capri Palace is the Capri hotel I would choose when I want Capri, but I do not need the Piazzetta involved in every hour of my vacation.
It sits in Anacapri, about 300 meters above the sea, on the quieter and prettier-in-a-less-obvious-way side of the island. There is a serious medical spa, two-Michelin-starred L’Olivo, Il Riccio Beach Club near the Blue Grotto and enough going on that heading into Capri town becomes optional rather than mandatory.
Hotel La Palma is for people who want Capri outside the door. J.K. Place is tiny and seaside. Capri Palace is where I would go if I wanted everyone to stop making plans for several hours.
The spa is a real reason to stay here
The Capri Medical Spa is not the usual hotel-spa situation where there are three treatment rooms, cucumber water and suddenly everyone is calling it a wellness retreat.
This is an actual medical spa, with diagnostics, nutrition, aesthetic treatments, hydrotherapy and the famous Leg School, which uses alternating hot and cold treatments to improve circulation. It is one of the things that genuinely separates Capri Palace from every other top hotel on the island.
If you care seriously about wellness, I would choose this hotel before I chose J.K. Place or La Palma. If you do not care seriously about wellness, that is also fine. Nobody is going to confiscate your Aperol Spritz because you failed to optimize your circulation.
Il Riccio fixes the sea problem, and it has a Michelin star
Capri Palace is in Anacapri, not directly on the water. The answer is Il Riccio Restaurant and Beach Club near the Blue Grotto, reached by complimentary hotel shuttle subject to availability, and several room categories include Il Riccio loungers when available.
What most coverage leaves out is that Il Riccio holds a Michelin star of its own, making it the only Michelin-starred beach club in Italy, with chef Salvatore Elefante on seafood. That is a genuinely unusual thing to have at the end of a shuttle ride.
For 2026, Dioriviera has returned to Il Riccio, so yes, your beach day can apparently also have a fashion collaboration. Capri remains committed to Capri. I would reserve ahead rather than treating it as something to decide at breakfast. Il Riccio is open to the public as well as to guests, and in summer everyone has independently had the same excellent idea.
Which room should you actually book?
The entry Classic Room is 25 square meters with a garden view. Perfectly nice, but I would need the savings to be fairly convincing.
For most couples, I would move into a sea-view category. The Superior Seaside Room is still compact at 27 square meters but gets you the Gulf of Naples view. If this is a longer or more romantic stay, I would look harder at the Junior Suite Seaside, which runs from 41 to 56 square meters and has been redesigned by Patricia Urquiola.
The Capritouch Suite is another category I like because at 50 square meters it gives you meaningful space plus the sea view, without immediately sending the price into perhaps-we-should-discuss-this-calmly territory.
If privacy matters more than the grandest view, I would also compare one of the private-pool suites. This is the kind of upgrade I understand. A private pool changes an afternoon. An extra decorative chair rarely does.
The newer Patricia Urquiola suites are worth paying attention to
This is one area where older reviews are increasingly useless. Patricia Urquiola has redesigned a growing collection of suites with softer shapes, natural textures and a much more contemporary feel, and the work is still continuing across the property.
The Executive Terrace Suite is enormous at 127 square meters with a private terrace and sea views, while the private Executive Floor combines five Urquiola suites and can accommodate up to 13 adults and two children. For a multigenerational family or group, that Executive Floor is much more interesting to me than booking five unrelated rooms and spending the week figuring out who is on which floor.
There is also, naturally, a Presidential Paltrow Suite. It sleeps up to four, has a private pool and an enormous sea-view terrace and is apparently inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow. Of course it is. We are at a medical spa on Capri.
The dining is the strongest on the island
L’Olivo is the headline, the only two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Capri, under chef Andrea Migliaccio, with dinner served beneath chandeliers and a tasting menu built on the season. Il Riccio adds its own star down at the water.
Beyond those two there is Zuma Capri on the rooftop doing izakaya with Gulf of Naples views, aMaRe Capri for pizza from Franco Pepe, Il Ragù facing the sea and Bar degli Artisti, named for the artworks on its walls, with live music most evenings.
The hotel also runs a four-hands dinner series each season with visiting Michelin-starred chefs. If food is a reason you travel, this is not a hotel where you will need to leave for dinner, and those dinners book out well in advance.
Families can actually make this work
Jumeirah Capri Palace has much better family configurations than you might assume from photographs of white arches and adults looking rested. The Two Bedroom Superior Seaside is made from two connecting rooms, sleeps four adults and gives everyone an actual bedroom rather than a very expensive sofa bed.
Larger suites and the Executive Floor create even more useful options. Two practical notes: extra beds can be added in every category except Classic and Superior rooms, and some benefits and spa access carry age restrictions, so I would confirm the exact setup for the children’s ages before booking rather than assuming every inclusion applies equally to everyone.
Jumeirah Capri Palace vs. Hotel La Palma
This is an easy distinction. Choose La Palma if you want to walk out the door into Capri town, shop, go to dinner, stay out late and have the Piazzetta five minutes away.
Choose Capri Palace if you want Anacapri, wellness, a larger resort, Il Riccio and the feeling that the hotel itself can occupy an entire day. La Palma is the social choice. Capri Palace is the exhale.

Jumeirah Capri Palace vs. J.K. Place Capri
J.K. Place is smaller, more intimate and much more immediately connected to Marina Grande. I love it for couples who want beautiful design, a proper pool and easy arrival and departure logistics.
Capri Palace gives you much more infrastructure: the medical spa, Il Riccio, two-Michelin-starred L’Olivo, private-pool suites and serious family configurations.
For three romantic nights, I might lean J.K. Place. For five nights involving spa appointments, beach days and children, I would probably lean Capri Palace.

Who I would book here
I particularly like Jumeirah Capri Palace for wellness trips, couples who want a quieter Capri, families and multigenerational groups, and repeat visitors who have already done the Piazzetta-every-night version of the island. The hotel’s own contemporary art collection, the White Museum, scattered through the public spaces, is a nice bonus if that is your kind of thing.
I would choose somewhere else if your entire Capri fantasy involves walking into town every morning for coffee and spending every night near the Piazzetta. Anacapri is not second-choice Capri. It is a different Capri, and for plenty of people I think it is the better one.
One scheduling note: the hotel is seasonal, reopening in mid-April and closing in mid-October, so it will not solve a shoulder-season trip.
